The Author

Marcie Stapp served as conductor/coach for Philadelphia’s Academy of Vocal Arts, the Curtis Institue of Music, Indiana University, the Mozart Opera Studies Institute and the Gernot-Heindl Opera School in Munich. A current faculty member of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she regularly prepares productions for Sakai City Opera and the Osaka College of Music while giving master classes in Japan.

A gifted linguist, Marcie Stapp is the author of The Singer’s Guide to Languages, and has had her operatic translations performed by leading music schools and professional companies. She taught English and French at the Mangold Institute in Madrid and is fluent in 5 languages.

The Metropolitan Opera’s renowned diction coach Nico Castel selected her as the new editor of his popular Opera Libretti Series and the two have collaborated annually on the Castel-Stapp Master Classes in San Francisco.
